Undefeated Lincoln, BVP set for Division III showdown

-

WEST GREENWICH — The undefeated showdown is set.

Thanks to a game-high 24 points from junior wing Octavio Brito and a career-high 20 points from senior Randall Hien, Lincoln crushed Exeter-West Greenwich 71-52 Wednesday night in a Division III showdown.

Lincoln (7-0 Division III) returns home Friday night to face Blackstone Valley Prep, which is also undefeated after Abdoulaye Sall scored a game-high 18 points in the Pride’s 65-55 home victory over talented St. Patrick.

“It’s nice to have the game at home,” Lincoln coach Kent Crooks said. “I don’t give any game too much importance because it’s a game of basketball and we have to be true to ourselves. We just need to give a good effort. We know [Xavier Mendez] is a great player, but the kid Sall is tough and Jordan Mendes is good – they’re whole lineup is explosive. Defense is the key for us and then we’ll see what they throw at us.”

Lincoln, which led by 22 points at halftime, also received 11 points from Vin Nassi and eight points from Josh Jahnz.
