Conn. state trooper charged with assaulting girlfriend in RI
PAWTUCKET – A Connecticut State Police Trooper was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct in Pawtucket early Thursday stem ming from a sTuabble last week during which he allegedly shoved his girlfriend, according to Paw tucket Police.
On March around a.m., police responded to Daggett Av enue for a re ported domestic disturbance after a caller said her boyfriend was “pushing and shoving´ her, a patrol narrative says. The woman told police on the scene that she’d been having sex with her boyfriend – identified by police as Marwing P. Pena, , of Anne Circle in Sterling, Conn. – but when she told him she no longer wanted to have sex, he allegedly became angry and pushed her across the face and used his foot to push her in the stomach, which resulted in her rolling off the bed, the report indicates.
The woman allegedly attempted to grab the couple’s two sons be cause she was “in fear of Pena,´ the report indicates, but Pena allegedly pushed her and grabbed the chil dren from her arms and proceeded upstairs, the report notes. A brief struggle over the children ensued but she let Pena take them before giving them to her mother, police said.
The woman did not complain of any inMuries and police did not ob serve any inMuries, the report notes.
After interviewing Pena, the woman’s mother, and the woman for a second time, and after con sulting with a sergeant on scene, it was determined that Pena was the primary aggressor, police said. +e was taken into custody without in cident.
Pena was charged with domestic simple assault and domestic disor derly conduct, according to police records.
According to Connecticut State Police, Pena has been employed by the State Police since October
. As a result of the arrest, a State Police supervisor has seized Pena’s department firearms, badge, identification, and police cruiser. Pena’s police powers have been suspended and an internal affairs investigation is underway.
