1954 Leo Heroux twirled a no-hitter spiced with nine strikeouts as Premier Thread blanked Fierlit-Korzen 12-0 in a Blackstone Valley Little League game. “Soup” Campbell paced the Premier hitters’ attack with four hits in as many trips to the plate. Campbell, Heroux and Allie Lachance hammered home runs during a big fourth inning rally when the winners piled up six runs. The opening game of the twinbill had Crosby Towner Jr. tossing a four-hitter and fanning nine to pace the H.A.R. team to a 4-3 victory over the Garfield nine.

1964 Roger Pariseau’s sacrifice fly scored Mike Farrands with the game’s lone run in the second inning as Stanton Post, which finished second in the final standings, upset league champion Cliff House 1-0 in a Pawtucket Softball League double-elimination playoff tilt. Jack MacQueen allowed only five hits for Stanton, while Norm MacNeil and Mickey Finn combined on a six-hitter in a losing effort. Bill Bowles cracked two hits for Cliff House and Jim Colinan rapped two for Stanton.

1974 Susan Santucci of Lincoln, who lost in the championship final a year ago, fired an 82 to capture medalist honors in the qualifying round of the R. I. Women’s Golf Association Junior Championships at the Potowomut Golf Club. Miss Santucci carded a 41-41 over the par 36-36, 5,777-yard layout with the highlight of her round coming on the 423-yard, par five ninth hole where she reached the green in two and just missed a 30-foot putt for an eagle. Miss Santucci, a 13-yearold, won the Massachusetts Junior title for girls 14 and under two weeks ago and recently competed in the U. S. Junior Girls Championship at Seattle, Wash.
