1969 Pawtucket West hoopsters Ed Rainville, Mike Calabro, Mike Thomsen and Dennis Piche broke open what had been a nip-and-tuck battle by scoring 16 consecutiv­e second period points on the way to a 66-50 win over Tolman in a non-league contest. Piche wound up with a game total of 17 points, while Thomsen and Calabro netted 14 apiece, but just as important to West’s victory was the work on the boards by Rainville, who also chipped in with eight points. Gary Rabe took game-high honors with 20 points and Guy Dufault contribute­d 15 to the Tiger cause.

1989 Quinn Brito of East Providence is the early leader in the Evening Times’ area schoolboy basketball scoring race with 29.3 points per game. Rounding out the top four point-getters are Attleboro’s Mark Houle with 25.5 ppg, followed by Calvin Bridges of Davies (22.0) and Bishop Feehan’s Jeff Cavallo (21.0). Chris Jaron of Tolman is tops in made treys with 17, Bridges has the single-game high of 35 points and Jeff Shea of Saint Raphael Academy is the pacesetter in free throw proficienc­y at 80% (12-15).

1999 Tom Robertson led Lincoln’s attack by winning the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.45 and helping a pair of relay teams score victories, the 200 individual medley squad (2:04.62) and the 200 freestyle quartet (1:43.74) as the Lions swimmers ran their unbeaten streak to five meets via a convincing 68-29 win over Toll Gate. Individual winners for Lincoln were Ashley Jankowski in the 100 backstroke (1:13.70), Caitlin Coulombe in the 200 individual medley (2:27.85), Glenn Ginish in the 200 freestyle (1:54.89) and Nick Catallozzi in the 100 freestyle (53.73).
