1966 Barry McCoy of Slater captured the 50-yard freestyle (27.5) and 100 freestyle (1:06.9) while Goff took the team title in the 13th annual Pawtucket Junior High swimming championsh­ip. Others Goff natators garnering a blue ribbon were John McCabe, 100 individual medley (1:17.3), Jim Harrop, 50 breaststro­ke (46.1), Scott McConaughe­y, diving (27.5 points) and Andy Molak, 50 butterfly (34.0). Mike Lachance of Jenks was the champion in the 50 backstroke with a time of 45.3.

1986 Pictured are the Pawtucket Youth Hockey Associatio­n all-stars who are heading to Philadelph­ia to compete in an annual tournament against, among others, the heralded “Little Flyers” sextet. The PYHA team members include Chris Smith, Scott Robillard, Steven Clarke, Todd Slack, Kevin Silvera, Randy Mingo, Ed St. Germain, Randy Silvera, Pat McDermott, David Dunn, Dennis Sorel, Jason Waterman, Brian Nordberg, James Clark, Mike Thibodeau and Todd Chapman. Stu Rondeau, Dave Colson and Zip Trafford are the all-star coaches.

1996 The Hawkeyes outhustled the Blue Devils 50-43 in the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland-Lincoln Youth Basketball League boys’ 9-10 division championsh­ip game overshadow­ing a tremendous 37-point performanc­e by Seth Desautel, who scored 15 of those points from behind the three-point arc. Eric Sliney torched the twines for 32 points and Andrew Balon chipped in with 12 for the champs. In the girls’ 9-10 category, Ashley Nelson tallied a game-high 10 points to spark the Tar Heels to a wild 22-21 final tilt decision over the Demon Deacons.
