Choro das 3 is a family-based trio formed by sisters Corina (flute), Lia (7 string guitar) and Elisa (mandolin, clarinet, banjo, accordion) in 2002. Eduardo, the father of the three sisters, tragically lost his life to Covid early in the pandemic, before vaccines were available in Brazil. Eduardo was the band’s percussionist from its founding. The sisters resolved to continue as Choro das 3 and they now play every song in their father’s memory.

The music the trio plays is Brazilian instrumental music called Choro which is a form of jazz native feel with New Orleans

Fresco Italiano: A Night of the Arts returns to the St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center (the Center), in collaboration with the Northern Rhode Island Council of the Arts (NRICA), on Saturday, June 24th at 5:00 pm. Fresco Italiano was an event originally conceived as a celebration of the artistic achievements of Guido Nincheri, the Italian artist who executed the magnificent fresco paintings on the ceiling of the Center, while also promoting local artists. This year, through a special collaboration with the NRICA, the event is expanding to include local high school students. Both the Center and the NRICA believe that exposing our youth to the arts will assist both organizations in achieving their missions and to one day become members, volunteers or take an active role in the arts of our local communities. The Center and the NRICA has invited students from Woonsocket (WHS) and the Choro tradition in Brazil, where they join several other young people in rediscovering this music, hoping to spread Choro around the world. They have released 11 albums and have been touring in North America, Europe and Brazil for the past 21 years.
