PAWTUCKET – A Providence woman accused of attacking not only her ex-boyfriend but also another person was arraigned on serious charges at Sixth District Court in Providence on Thursday afternoon and held on $5,000 surety bail

Police charged Arianna Brown, 22, of 161 Petteys Ave., with felony assault and/ or battery, domestic violence/ felony assault and/or battery and a pair of misdemeanors, including domestic violence/ vandalism (first offense) and domestic violence/disorderly conduct.

The district court judge also issued Brown a domestic and non-domestic no-contact order with her ex, 32, and a female victim, 26.

The alleged crime occurred on Friday, Feb. 2; at about 4 p.m., Patrolman David Palmer responded to a Melrose Avenue apartment for a report of a domestic incident. As he drove to the scene, dispatch alerted him that Brown had also called 9-1-1 stating she had been assaulted, possibly with a knife. She also said she was inside an Uber and headed to headquarters.

When Palmer arrived on scene, he spoke with the man, and he explained he and his friend had been sleeping in their apartment when Brown began banging on the door, waking both.

“Moments later, Brown was on top of him in his bed, wielding a pocket knife and screaming at him; he stated he was able to wrestle Brown and hold her down until she relaxed enough for him to let go,” Palmer wrote in his report. “He stated that during the struggle, he was scraped by the knife on his left forearm. He then released Brown, who went outside.”

Not long after, the man heard her screaming and saw her throwing bricks at and through his rental car, a 2016 Nissan, then watched her leave the area on foot. He declined any medical treatment for his injuries.

Palmer then spoke with the female victim, who said she was awoken by someone banging on her door. When she opened it, “she was met by Brown pointing a knife at her and asked, ‘Where is he?’” he reported. “She then pushed past her and moved into the bedroom. She remained out of the way until Brown left the residence.

“She then stated Brown slashed the tire on the vehicle parked in front of her residence; that was owned by her neighbor.”

Palmer tried to speak with that neighbor who owned the vehicle, but he declined comment and a desire to press charges.

The female victim, however, did.

The officer also spoke with several other neighbors, all of whom wished to remain anonymous. However, a female neighbor did say her Ring camera had captured a portion of the incident. Palmer viewed that footage and saw a female carrying a bag and sweatshirt pick up a brick and throw it at the side window of the Nissan.

“Another video showed her yelling in the direction of the Melrose Avenue apartment and talking to someone about seeing another female,” Palmer wrote. “The same neighbor who provided me with the video footage stated she viewed the female leaving and observed what she believed to be a knife in her hand.”

Police located Brown and arrested her just after 12:10 p.m., Thursday.
