1964 Coach Ted McConnon’s Tolman quintet

avenged their only loss of the season by crushing Hope 69-46 to advance to the state tournament semifinals before a capacity crowd of 3,400 at Providence College’s Alumni Hall. The Tigers were led by 6-foot-6 Don Suggs with 20 points, followed by Jim “Squash” Squadrito with 18 points while 6-3 Mike Eiselonis and 6-2 Frank Geiselman added 10 points each. It was their 21st consecutiv­e victory and matched them up with Sacred Heart Academy for the second straight year in the semifinals.

1984 Pete Jarest’s steal and subsequent coast-to-coast

layup at the buzzer clinched Central Falls’ 65-62 Class C quarterfin­al victory over Smithfield. Jarest finished with a game-high 30 points, Kevin McCann canned 15 and Scott Lachance hooped 12 for Warriors’ coach George Desautell. “Jarest had an all-state game and that was an allstate steal,” exclaimed Desautell.

2004 Sara Czarnecki and Brooke Lefort, the two tall

est players on the court, combined for 29 points and helped Cumberland dominate the paint as the Clippers jumped out to a 16-3 advantage en route to a 60-34 Division 1 crossover victory over Bay View. Lefort, a 5-foot-10 forward, tallied a game-high 15 points while Czarnecki, a 6-1 center, added 14 points, 13 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and three blocked shots. Tyla Martin (13 points, six boards, five assists), Lindsay Cunningham (nine points, eight caroms) and freshman guard Kris Fahey, who came off the bench to dish out a team-high six assists, also had big games for Clippers’ coach Frank Geiselman.
