Pascoag Utility District announces 16th Annual Green Festival

-

BURRILLVILLE – Pascoag Utility District, in collaboration with the Town of Burrillville’s Parks and Recreation Department, is happy to announce the return of its popular 16th Annual Green Festival. Join us on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Stillwater Mill Center, located at 100 Tinkham Lane, Harrisville, RI 02830. In case of inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for May 18, 2024. The Green Festival is a beloved community event that unites families from Northern Rhode Island in a celebration of sustainable living practices and a greener future. The first 400 attendees will receive complimentary reusable grocery bags filled with valuable energy-saving information, recycling tips, and more.

Attendees of all ages can look forward to an array of engaging activities, including free fun activities for children, oversized yard games, and creative crafts. Meanwhile, adults will have the opportunity to explore over 20 “green” and sustainable living vendors, offering insights and solutions for leading environmentally conscious lifestyles.

Following along with the festival’s theme of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” this year’s event will feature a small community yard sale. Attendees are encouraged to browse and shop for gently used items, promoting the reuse of goods and reducing waste.

A highlight of this year’s festival is the presence of the Green Energy Consumers Alliance, showcasing local electric vehicles (EVs) and providing firsthand insights from EV owners. Additionally, the renowned Little B’s BBQ food truck will be onsite, serving up delicious lunch and snacks for purchase.

In the spirit of community and environmental stewardship, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rhode Island will be collecting donations of gently used clothing and textiles. These donations support the organization’s mentoring program, divert cloth from landfills, and benefit numerous community non-profits. 375 lbs. of clothing were collected last year!

Furthermore, representatives from Clean Heat RI will be on hand to address inquiries about the State of Rhode Island’s heat pump incentive program, which allocates an additional $25 million to incentivize the adoption of energy-efficient heat pump technology.

The festival will also feature a raffle with prizes generously donated by local businesses and green vendors. All proceeds from the raffle will go toward supporting Burrillville Senior

Programs, enriching the lives of seniors through resources, education, transportation, and recreational activities.
