Esselton T. McNulty

CUMBERLAND – Esselton T. McNulty, 78, of Fieldside Drive, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of fifty- five years of Dorothy (Hicks) McNulty.

Born in Geneva, N.Y., a son of the late Gilbert and Lorana E. (Thompson) McNulty, he had resided in Cumberland for the past forty-four years. He was a graduate of SUNY Cortland and Springfiel­d College, where he earned his master’s degree in Physical Education.

Mr. McNulty was the General Director of the YMCA of Pawtucket for thirty-six years, retiring in 2015. Affectiona­tely known as Ess, he was active in the Pawtucket business community, serving on the board of Fleet Bank, and was a corporator of the former Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Pawtucket and the To Kalon Club.

He was an avid Red Sox fan, and would enjoy traveling with his daughter to see them every year to watch them play in different ball parks across the country. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War, and was a member of Candleberr­y Chapel, Attleboro.

In addition to his wife Dotty, he is survived by two daughters, Shanon Horridge, and her husband Scott, of Cranston, and Tantha McNulty of Cumberland; and two grandsons, Jacob Whitt and Joseph Whitt.

His funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, April 26, 2024 at 10:00 am in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.
