Clifford, Lions throw no-hitter in home win over Huskies

LINCOLN – Making the final start of his high school career, Lincoln senior Sean Clifford turned in 6.2 hitless innings as part of a combined no-hitter in the Lions’ 4-2 win over Mount Hope on Monday night at Chet Nichols Field.

The Bryant University-bound Clifford struck out 12 and also walked six as part of his 114-pitch outing. Both runs scored by the Huskies were unearned. Luke Marchand came in to cover the game’s final out as Lincoln completed a sweep of the home-and-home series against Mount Hope.

Lincoln broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fifth before adding one more run in the sixth inning. Jaiden Torres and Caden Oldham had key hits for the Lions – Oldham went 3-for-4 while Torres drove in two.

Lincoln (5-12, Division I) was scheduled to wrap up its season Tuesday night under the home lights against Cumberland. PAWTUCKET ROLLS ON PAWTUCKET – League play as far as the regular season wrapped up on a high note for the Pawtucket co-op team, a 10-1 winner over Hope at McConnon Field on Monday. For the boys from Shea and Tolman high schools, the win places a capper on a 15-3 record against Division III opponents.

Ethan Torres started for Pawtucket and covered the first six innings, striking out six while allowing one run on two hits. Jaiden Mills pitched a scoreless seventh that included two strikeouts.

Up 3-0, Pawtucket put the game out of reach with three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth inning. Ethan DaSilva went 3-for-4 with two runs while Torres helped out his own cause with two hits.

Pawtucket closes out the regular season with a non-league game against Rogers on Friday. NORTHMEN CRUSH DT NORTH SMITHFIELD — North Smithfield pitcher Danny Harrison struck out six batters and allowed two hits in five innings, as the Northmen secured a 14-0 Division III five-inning victory over Davies Tech Monday afternoon.

North Smithfield (9-8 Division III) scored twice in the first inning and 12 times in the second to secure the victory. Catcher Tyler Albino led the offensive attack with two hits and three runs scored. Lead-off hitter Wyatt Letizia also scored twice to go along with an RBI and Dennis Sullivan added a hit and two runs scored.

Harrison also added three RBIs and two runs scored.

Davies Tech (3-13 Division III) received hits from junior Luke Ducharme and junior shortstop Myles Robinson.
