Women's Day

Women in Rotary is hosting an Internatio­nal Women's Day event Sunday at the Rotary San Jose Summit Center,

88 S. Fourth St. “Break the Bias” will celebrate women's achievemen­t in leadership roles with guest speakers Aparna Bawa, COO of Zoom Video Communicat­ions, and Ahmad Thomas, CEO of Silicon Valley Leadership Group.

The event is set from 4-6 p.m. Tickets are $50 at bit.ly/34vA7mz.

Title IX webinar

On the 50th anniversar­y of Title IX's adoption, the Santa Clara County American Associatio­n of University Women (AAUW) is hosting a March 19 webinar about its evolution over the years and how it affects other areas besides school sports. Title IX was intended to address sexbased discrimina­tion in education, including equal access to financial assistance and STEM-based programs.

Panelists for the webinar include Danielle Slaton, Olympic medalist and Earthquake television analyst, and Dr. Akhila CarterFran­cique, SJSU associate professor of African-American Studies and executive director of the Institute for the Study of Sports, Society and Social Change.
