SJ Jazz funds artists

Organizati­on grants $1,000 to 27 Bay Area musicians.

Nine of these grantees will premiere new commission­s live at the second SJZ New Works Fest in downtown San Jose April 22 -May 8.

San Jose Jazz has awarded $1,000 to 27 Bay Area musicians through its SJZ Jazz Aid Fund 2022. San Jose grantees include vocalist Ren Geisick, blues guitarist Chris “Kid” Anderson and drummer Sylvia Cuenca.

Nine of the grantees will premiere new commission­s live at the second SJZ New Works Fest in downtown San Jose April 22 -May 8. All nine will receive an additional $1,500 performanc­e fee.

Artists were selected through recommenda­tions across the Bay Area music community, including media critics, arts presenters, artists and curators.
