Meet Jill Maier
Competing in July for the Miss Florida Pre-Teen crown
Cape Coral’s Jill Maier is a finalist in the National American Miss contest. She is entered in the Miss Florida Pre-Teen category, held July 29-30 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress hotel in Orlando. Contestants are judged on a personal introduction, stage poise, interviewing skills and their community involvement. Jill, who is 12, attends Oasis Elementary School in the Cape with her brother, Randy. She travels to Orlando with her parents, Christine and Michael. Jill shared her excitement with Cape Coral Living magazine.
CCL: How long have you competed in pageants?
JM: I never did something like this before, this is the first time.
CCL: How do you prepare for the National American Miss?
JM: I’m just nervous, very excited and blessed to do this and represent the state of Florida. It is completely new for me and I have no experience―but I take it step by step and day after day. And there are my parents and my brother helping and supporting me. I always wanted to be a top model. And if you can live your dream, it’s easier to go through all this with posing, interviews and stage presence. I really love it.
CCL: Advice to other girls considering pageants?
JM: I never looked for pageants, but when you get the chance to do it, just take it. It will also help you build up more self-confidence. Don’t forget to have fun and never forget to be yourself; it’s a privilege and a great honor to be chosen to attend the NAM [National American Miss] finals.
