Sunday

Ahh … the lazy days of September. While the rest of the country is gearing up after a long summer, we are barely moving— unless it’s to reposition the beach chair to catch a breeze.

Tuesday

Early morning walk around the neighborhood and I was already dripping at 7 o’clock. Remember, as Mom used to say, “Girls don’t sweat, they glisten.”

Thursday

Tried three restaurants today before we found one open. Is everyone taking an off-season break?

Friday

Thinking about a trip “overseas” this weekend—maybe a quiet beach day on lovely Lovers Key.

Sunday

That was definitely a good choice of beach, followed by some seafood fresh off the boats docked around Matanzas Pass. Yummmm!

Monday

Keeping a watchful eye on the weather forecast. Irma hit Florida a year ago this week.

Wednesday

A few too many days closed up in the AC has me stir-crazy. Time to get outside and take care of the plants, also going crazy. Rainy season has lived up to expectations.

Thursday

Oh my, those ferns are truly taking over. Did you know, by the way, that staghorn ferns eat bananas?

Sunday

Happened upon an impromptu country music jam around Times Square last night. Then it dawned on me: Island Hopper Songwriter Fest. SWFL is aswirl with talent this week.

Thursday

Surprise visit from an old high school friend who now lives on Marco Island. What to eat???

Friday

Lucky me. Just happen to have fresh hogfish waiting in the fridge. Let’s also thaw some of those frozen mangoes from my neighbor’s tree to make salsa.

Monday

Need to restock the fridge after a weekend full of company. Is that Whole Foods in Fort Myers open yet?

Wednesday

Restaurants are getting back to normal schedules, and all’s right with the world. Happy Hour this evening with E and B after a too-long hiatus.

Friday

Art Walk tonight in downtown Fort Myers should be extra special. It’s the event’s 10-year anniversary.

Tuesday

Early snowbirds are trickling back. Trickling means 25 mph, max.

Thursday

In Bailey’s today, all anyone was talking about was when we would get our first cool front. It’s time, Mother Nature.

Monday

Am I obsessed with seafood? Maybe, but I am celebrating the opening of stone crab season by driving to Tin City in Naples for the first taste of the year.

Thursday

Need to break out M’s lederhosen and head to the biergarten at Cape Coral’s Oktoberfest. SWFL may not have autumn leaves, but we have cold beer and hot brats.
