Celebrating the Burrowing Owl
Annual festival gives Cape Coral’s favorite bird its due
The 17th annual Burrowing Owl Festival celebrates the start of nesting season. This family event, to be held February 23 at the Rotary Park Environmental Center in Cape Coral, offers a chance to learn about Cape Coral’s favorite bird through speakers and educational exhibits, as well as bus tours to see this diminutive bird of prey in its natural habitat (the cost is a $5 donation; children under 16 are free). The festival also offers tours of the Tom Allen Memorial Butterfly House, where you can purchase nature-themed artwork by local artists, and free hands-on arts and crafts activities for children.
