Dining while grocery shopping

There are plenty of good reasons to keep the driving trips limited, including the savings of gas and time. One way to tackle an errand and grab lunch at the same time is to check out the deli/cafe inside your local grocery store. “Lately, we have been enjoying an extended grocery shopping trip with lunch at the same place—Wynn's Market,” says Pamela Arrens of Naples, who generally finds something she likes in the ready-to-go section. “It's quick and easy,” she adds.

At Wynn's Market in Naples, the bakery and deli have offered many classic recipes since 1938, when the market opened as the first gourmet grocery in the area. A few examples are chunky chicken salad, broccoli salad, and the number-one seller—coconut cake— featured on Food Network. The deli offers a collection of salads, sandwiches/wraps, meats, and ready-made meals. On the Graband-Go Wall, there is a selection of prepared meals such as citrus salmon, grouper almondine, prime rib dinner, filet mignon, family-style chicken pot pie, and artisan flatbreads. Sandwiches/wraps and salads are made fresh every day and are ready to grab.

Diners can go to the deli counter and make their own sandwich. There's also a rotating hot case with fried, baked, or rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. In season, themed food, such as Asian Mondays, is offered. Drink options include sodas, waters, teas, beer, wine (mini bottles and cans), and a juice bar is in the produce section—for delicious juices, smoothies, and shots. All told, there are more than 200 food choices every day. There is a seating area outside, and with just a small walk— behind NCH Wellness Center—you can enjoy your meal at the reflection pond on one of the many benches.

Jerry's Foods of Sanibel is a favorite among locals and visitors to the islands, thanks to the great selection of dining options in the grocery store. In addition to a large deli with prepared foods, there is the popular Jerry's Cafe, which reopened for limited service shortly after Hurricane Ian. There's also the Coquina Coffee Shop where a cup of coffee or a snack and drink are always ready and waiting.

DeRomo's Gourmet Market in Bonita Springs is another option for dining while out shopping. It has all kinds of Italian favorites such as fresh mozzarella, homemade pasta, traditional New York-style pizza with Sicilian-style crust, and desserts such as cannoli and biscotti—as well as salads, freshmade sandwiches, wraps, and homemade soups including

turkey chili, lamb stew, and minestrone. There's also an antipasto and olive bar.

“With more than 100 dishes to choose from, our prepared foods department is the next best thing to home cooking,” says Nicole Panio, public relations manager. DeRomo's offers grab-and-go prepackaged versions of its prepared dishes that are microwave safe, so you can just heat and eat at home.

Another dining choice is a meal at the adjacent DeRomo's Restaurant, where all dishes are prepared with fresh-cut meats, seafood, produce, and other ingredients from its gourmet market.

Paesano's Italian Fresh Market in Cape Coral offers fresh produce, meats and cheeses, homemade desserts, wines, and weekly specials. An outdoor café serves hot and cold sandwiches, pizza, Italian specialties such as fried calamari, and delicious homemade entrees—all in an
