Creating With Vellum

CardMaker - - Tips & Techniques - By Kimber McGray

Have you seen all the great projects in this issue that feature vellum? Vellum is a smooth, translucent paper that is not as porous as cardstock. These properties make it perfect for layering over colorful patterned papers. It can also be used creatively to create your own embellishments. While vellum has been around for years, it's a fun medium to manipulate and use in fresh ways on your projects. In this article I will demonstrate three unique ways to incorporate vellum into your next card design. My projects show how to stamp and heat-emboss on the vellum, stamp on the front of plain vellum and color on the reverse side, and also how to create custom embellishments with fun printed vellums.
