Catron Courier - - News -

TAP—The Show is an extravaganza that combines energetic and powerful footwork with homage to Broadway show tunes and iconic tap dancers. Prior to the show, Tech Club–Club Macey, open to adults 21 and over, will offer a special International Appetizers and Wine Samples, from 5-7:30 for $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Said PAS Director Ronna Kalish, “TAP—The Show has generated a great deal of interest... The costumes are incredible and the musical score is sure to have audience members tapping along.”

The performance features a cast of award winning dancers and singers who travel seamlessly over decades of styles from the Great White Way to the big band sounds of the 1930s and 1940s, to world music and pop/rock.

Each segment of the show brings to life memorable tap moments of the past, and creates new moments that amaze audiences. Included in this extravaganza are recrea- tions of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly numbers, Broadway showstoppers, smooth-andsultry soft shoe, flamenco, tribal, Irish step and more.

The show explores the international family tree of tap dancing, including Irish, African and Spanish traditions, as well as contemporary urban expressions. Musical selections range from percussive flamenco and tribal compositions, to the Beatles and Aerosmith.

TAP is the culmination of years researching the traditions of step dancing by writer/ director Scott Seidl, and is the latest contribution from Matt Davenport Productions in its vast repertoire of touring successes.

Sponsors are Wells Fargo, Pepsi, AMEC, Holiday Inn Express and Bodega Burger Co. and Lounge.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $10 for youth 17 and under, and are available at the NM Tech Cashier’s Office (second floor of Fidel Center), Brownbilt Shoes and Western Wear, Burrito Tyme Drive-up, or at the door.
