United in Blue Striv­ing for Gold

On May 15, 2014, the Re­serve FFA Chap­ter held its an­nual chap­ter ban­quet. Dur­ing the ban­quet the chap­ter rec­og­nized the achieve­ments of mem­bers, heard from guest speaker Mrs. Jes­sica (Swapp) Lu­cas, vis­ited with 2013-2014 State Vice Pres­i­dents Uriel Munoz and Kelsey Gar­ner, along with say­ing good­bye to the 2013-2014 chap­ter of­fi­cers and wel­com­ing the 20142015 Re­serve FFA Of­fi­cer Team. The 2014-2015 of­fi­cer team is: Pres­i­dent-Camden Hardy, Vice Pres­i­dent- Sha­nia Liv­ingston, Sec­re­tary-Re­bekah McCarty, Trea­surer -Michael Car­rejo, Reporter-Ty Gatlin, and Sen­tinel-Ben Fletcher.

From June 1 to 5 Camden Hardy, Re­bekah McCarty, Katherin McCarty, Ben Fletcher, Billy Baca, Cody Goetz, Isiac John­ston, Michael Car­rejo, Henry Chavez, and Lo­gan Boone at­tended the 86th an­nual New Mex­ico State FFA Con­ven­tion ac­com­pa­nied by ad­vi­sor Ju­lian Marta, and spon­sors Lori McCarty, and Stan­ley Radvil­las. Dur­ing the con­ven­tion mem­bers at­tended ses­sions, work­shops, a dance, and com­peted in dif­fer­ent events.

Camden Hardy com­peted in Ex­tem­po­ra­ne­ous Pub­lic Speak­ing and placed seventh. Re­bekah McCarty com­peted in Green­hand Creed and was also on the State Of­fi­cer Nom­i­nat- ing Com­mit­tee. Katherin McCarty, Camden Hardy, Ben Fletcher, Michael Car­rejo, Billy Baca, Lo­gan Boone and Henry Chavez com­peted as a team in the Agri­cul­ture Is­sues Con­test. The group pre­sented the im­pact that wild­fires make in our com­mu­nity and agri­cul­ture on mul­ti­ple lev­els. Katherin McCarty also re­ceived her State FFA De­gree.

At­tend­ing State Con­ven­tion was, and al­ways is, a great ex­pe­ri­ence for mem­bers. There were sev­eral op­por­tu­ni­ties for mem­bers to make new friends from all across the state, lis­ten to mo­ti­va­tional speeches, and learn to be Un­tied in Blue while Striv­ing for Gold in the FFA.
