DPCC: A Positive Presence
by Carol Jean Auffrey
It's been an exciting year for the DPCC and we want to thank each and every person who has made a contribution to the revitalization of the DPCC. Yet again many of you have stepped up to help us with our current raffle project.
Our “Kick Off” for the three bags of Gift Certificates started April 28. Tickets can be purchased until Saturday at the County Fair in August. There are three gift bags each containing three gift certificates. Bag A contains a gift certificate for a massage, a $20 gift certificate for the Cactus Company and a certificate to Carmen’s Restaurant in Reserve. Bag B contains a certificate for Black Gold, Little Adobe and a massage. Bag C includes a certificate for a free pie from the Pie-O-Neer, shopping at Jake's Store, and a free oil change certificate from Andy’s Garage in Quemado. Tickets can be purchased for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00 at the Pie-O -Neer or by contacting Ray Messier, Carol Auffrey, Kathy Garceau or Lee Sonne. Thanks to all our merchants for supporting this raffle which will allow the DPCC to continue to make a “Positive Presence” in our community. We also want to thank the family of Joyce Smallwood for donating one of her paintings to be raffled off separately. A big thank you to all of you out there who have supported us by helping pick up trash on the highway, and who I know will be buying raffle tickets.
At the monthly meeting of the Catron County Vets, the DPCC was recognized by the United States Marine Corps Reserve for their contribution to the “Toys For Tots” program. Al Sanchez, Commander, presented Carol Jean Auffrey, Vice Chair of the DPCC with a certificate of appreciation.
Going forward the DPCC will be advocating for bipartisan voter registration and participation in the upcoming elections. We will also be holding another “Adopt a Highway” clean up on Highway 12 August 4, details to be announced. ●●●
