Great Dutch Oven Cookin’ in Glenwood
by Molly Bryan
The Glenwood Dutch Oven Gathering held Saturday April 7 was a great success. We had beautiful weather to cook and enjoy the day. We ended up having 6 cooking teams and sold approximately 160 meals for the folks to enjoy.
We had cooks come from Sheffield, Texas, Albuquerque, Socorro, Silver City and Glenwood.
Many attended the event and enjoyed the festivities. There were also several vendors with a variety of different items for sale. The local Catholic church had a nice coffee, tea booth, there was a food vendor truck with nice breakfast and lunch items, the local 4-H kids sold drinks and cookies, and we even had an ice cream vendor, which went over well with the warm day. The meals ranged from pork chops and fixings, enchilada casseroles, Navajo tacos and roast beef dinner and a Moroccan chicken meal.
The meal tickets sold quickly and everyone enjoyed a nice meal.
I want to thank all who attended and helped with the event and the generous folks who donated money to make this event a success.
The cooking teams were all reimbursed their ticket sales plus a nice gift bag we put together for them. Thank you to all of my helpers also for making the event a success.
The majority of the money earned went to support our nice Community Park where the event was held.
We will see you next year around the same time. Get your Dutch Ovens ready.
