Gila Cliff Dwellings Na­tional Mon­u­ment an­nounced the fall sched­ule of pro­grams to give vis­i­tors a dif­fer­ent per­spec­tive of the dwellings.

Full Moon Hikes be­gins at night, tak­ing vis­i­tors on a one­hour tour of the cliff dwellings un­der moon­light. Wear sturdy shoes or boots, bring red-lens flash­lights or head­lamps, and reser­va­tions are re­quired. Please call 575-536-9461. Stan­dard park en­trance fees ap­ply. Full moon hike dates are Septem­ber 22 and Oc­to­ber 27.

For spec­tac­u­lar cross­canyon views of the cliff dwellings be­low, come for cliff hikes on Septem­ber 8, Oc­to­ber 13, Novem­ber 10, or De­cem­ber 8. Wear sturdy hik­ing boots, bring wa­ter and a snack for the 3-4 hour pro­gram. This is a stren­u­ous hike and may not be ap­pro­pri­ate for young chil­dren and those un­fa­mil­iar with off­trail hik­ing.

At 9 PM on Septem­ber 8, the Gila Vis­i­tor Cen­ter kicks off

a pro­gram to in­tro­duce night sky past cul­tures have shared, with tele­scope view­ing af­ter­wards. Bring lay­ers as the tem­per­a­ture drops with the sun. Gila Nights dates are: Septem­ber 8 and Oc­to­ber 6.
