June’s Cooking Class
June 20 was the day of the ground beef. Multiple uses for the same set of ingredients was demonstrated. Michelle Mullins, Vice-President Catron Food Pantries, held a class creating three dishes using ground beef in each. Class members followed along mixing the ingredients as Michelle and her assistant, Gemma Beauchamp, made theirs. A video of the class sessions can be viewed on Catron Food Pantries Facebook page. 1 lb. ground beef
1/2 C oatmeal
Salt & Pepper
Mix ingredients together in a bowl. In a skillet pour a couple tablespoons of oil.
Roll into 1” ball and place in pan. Fry on a medium high heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until cooked. You can eat as is or add to any sauce, just let simmer for about an hour.
MEATLOAF Using the above ingredients, add the following:
1/2 lb. sausage
1/2 C tomato sauce
2 tbsp. mustard
Mix ingredients and place in a pan. Form into any shape and bake at 350° for 45 minutes. You can also use a bread pan for easy cooking.
STUFFED BELL PEPPERS Using the meatloaf ingredients, add:
Core a bell pepper and stuff with the ground beef mixture. Place in baking pan. Bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes or until heated through. Garnish if desired.
