County crashes kill two
CECIL COUNTY — Two people were killed in Cecil County traffic accidents within approximately 22 hours of each other and, as of Thursday, one of them still hadn’t been identified after perishing in a fiery, single-vehicle crash near Chesapeake City, according to Maryland State Police.
In the first fatal collision, MSP troopers were dispatched to the 600 block of Cayots Corner, south of Chesapeake City, shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday to handle a reported traffic accident involving a sport utility vehicle, which had sustained heavy impact and fire damage, police reported.
“Upon their arrival, troopers located a silver SUV, which had struck a tree and caught fire. The make, model and registration of the SUV are unknown at this time,” an MSP spokesman said.
Also, as of Thursday, investigators still hadn’t been able to identify the driver, the sole occupant of the SUV, the spokesman said. Cecil County Department of Emergency Services paramedics pronounced that person dead at the crash scene, the spokesman added.
