Investigation continues in Conowingo stabbing
CONOWINGO — An investigation is continuing after a man was stabbed in the back during a fight outside a Conowingo bar over the weekend, leaving the victim with a wound that required “multiple surgeries,” according to Maryland State Police.
As of Tuesday, detectives had not identified the assailant or assailants in the incident that occurred outside the Susquehanna Inn Bar & Grill in the 100 block of Conowingo Road sometime between 10: 30 and 11 p. m. Saturday, police said. The victim, whom investigators identified only as a 46- year- old Pennsylvania resident, remained in Christiana Hospital in Delaware on Monday, police added.
The victim and his friend were leaving the bar when several men, who were standing outside the rear exit of the establishment, confronted them, police reported.
“For unknown reasons, an altercation ensued which resulted in the victim and his friend leaving abruptly. Upon the victim returning to his residence in Pennsylvania, he discovered that he ( suffered) a stab wound to the back,” outlined Sgt. DaVaughn Parker, an MSP spokesman, adding that the victim was then transported to the hospital.
The stabbing was reported to Pennsylvania State Police, which, in turn, notified MSP shortly before 1 a. m. Sunday, police noted.
As of Tuesday, investigators still were trying to determine what triggered the confrontation and gather details surrounding the incident.
“State police investigators are hoping anyone with information will come forward,” Parker said.
Anyone with information that might help investigators is urged to call the agency’s North East Barrack at 410-996-7800 — and “callers may remain anonymous,” according to Parker.
