Lou MacNeill, age 88,

of Sau­gus, MA, died Oc­to­ber 22, 2018 at York Hospi­tal af­ter a long ill­ness. He resided at the Atria in Ken­neb­unk for the past two years.

He was born in Lynn, MA on April 11, 1930, a son of Rod­ney and Ina Lit­tle­field MacNeill, at­tended lo­cal schools and grad­u­ated from Sau­gus High School in 1948 and Spring­field Col­lege in 1952.

He mar­ried Pa­tri­cia Tamm MacNeill in Jef­fer­son City, MO on May 15, 1954. They resided in Mis­souri, State Col­lege, Penn­syl­va­nia, Bow­doin­ham, Maine and fi­nally Ken­neb­unk, Maine.

He earned de­grees from Spring­field Col­lege and the Univer­sity of Mis­souri. He was a well re­spected swim­ming coach and Aquatic Di­rec­tor at Penn­syl­va­nia State Univer­sity, where he re­tired from in 1984.

His great­est joys were play­ing pi­ano, mak­ing peo­ple laugh and en­joy­ing life with his fam­ily and friends.

He was pre­de­ceased by his broth­ers, Rod­ney, Dou­glas, Stu­art, and Wil­liam and his wife of 62 years, Pat.

He is sur­vived by a son, Jim, of Wells, Maine and his wife Karen and their sons, Chan­dler and Brae­den MacNeill, and a son, An­drew, of Ty­rone, Penn­syl­va­nia and his wife Mad­die and their daugh­ter Maya MacNeill and many lov­ing nieces and neph­ews.

At his re­quest, there will be no vis­it­ing hours. The fam­ily will hold a pri­vate burial later in the spring of 2019, when he and his beloved wife Pat will re­unite.
