Joan Roush Armstrong, 88, of Philipsburg, died Friday, October 26, 2018, at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg
Born November 30, 1929, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna Rimmey Roush. On September 30, 1950 she married Elliott “Army” Armstrong, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2003.
She is survived by three children, Jeff Armstrong and his wife, Bridget, of Boalsburg, Gary Armstrong and his fiancée, Margo Williamson, of Unionville,Todd Armstrong and his wife, Dawn, of Stormstown; two siblings, Tom Roush of State College and Donna Krumrine of Pleasant Gap; six grandchildren, Nick Armstrong, Lee Armstrong, Misty Lewis, Curt Armstrong, Paul Armstrong and Tori Armstrong; three greatgrandchildren.
She was a 1947 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and a 1950 graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
Joan worked as an operating room nurse in Bellefonte Hospital and was a substitute school nurse for the State College Area School District.
She was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as working on puzzles, playing in bridge clubs and reading.
Visitation will be from 1:30 until 2 p.m., on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Reverend Michael Ozaki officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Gap Lutheran Cemetery.
At Joan’s request, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
