Joan Roush Arm­strong, 88, of Philips­burg, died Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 26, 2018, at Windy Hill Vil­lage, Philips­burg

Born Novem­ber 30, 1929, in Al­toona, she was the daugh­ter of the late Fred and Anna Rim­mey Roush. On Septem­ber 30, 1950 she mar­ried El­liott “Army” Arm­strong, who pre­ceded her in death on Novem­ber 4, 2003.

She is sur­vived by three chil­dren, Jeff Arm­strong and his wife, Brid­get, of Boals­burg, Gary Arm­strong and his fi­ancée, Margo Wil­liamson, of Unionville,Todd Arm­strong and his wife, Dawn, of Storm­stown; two sib­lings, Tom Roush of State Col­lege and Donna Krum­rine of Pleas­ant Gap; six grand­chil­dren, Nick Arm­strong, Lee Arm­strong, Misty Lewis, Curt Arm­strong, Paul Arm­strong and Tori Arm­strong; three great­grand­chil­dren.

She was a 1947 grad­u­ate of Belle­fonte Area High School and a 1950 grad­u­ate of the Pres­by­te­rian Hospi­tal School of Nurs­ing in Philadel­phia.

Joan worked as an op­er­at­ing room nurse in Belle­fonte Hospi­tal and was a sub­sti­tute school nurse for the State Col­lege Area School District.

She was a mem­ber of the State Col­lege Pres­by­te­rian Church.

Joan en­joyed spend­ing time with her fam­ily and friends as well as work­ing on puz­zles, play­ing in bridge clubs and read­ing.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be from 1:30 un­til 2 p.m., on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 29, 2018 at Koch Fu­neral Home, 2401 South Ather­ton Street, State Col­lege. Fu­neral ser­vice will fol­low at 2 p.m., at the fu­neral home, with the Rev­erend Michael Ozaki of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Burial will be in Pleas­ant Gap Lutheran Ceme­tery.

At Joan’s re­quest, in lieu of flow­ers memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to a char­ity of the donor’s choice.

Ar­range­ments are un­der the care of Koch Fu­neral Home, State Col­lege.
