Chargers: The daughter of defensive lineman Brandon Mebane was remembered before Los Angeles’ playoff game against the New England Patriots. The Patriots asked fans to stand and observe a moment of silence for Makenna Mebane, who died on Jan. 3 at the age of 7 weeks. She was born with a rare genetic condition known as Trisomy 13 that causes delays in development and affects several organs. Brandon Mebane had missed five of the past seven games, including last week’s wildcard game at Baltimore, to be with his family. He was active for Sunday’s game. Chiefs: A random act of kindness has netted AFC Championship tickets for a man called Dave who helped dig a Kansas City player out of the snow. Offensive linesman Jeff Allen posted on Twitter that his car got stuck as he was heading to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Colts in Saturday’s playoff. Allen says “a nice guy named Dave” got him back on the road. The Chicago native asked his 21,000plus followers to help him track down the Good Samaritan so he could reward him with tickets.

NFL: Sarah Thomas is the first woman to work an NFL playoff game as an on-field official. She was the down judge in Sunday’s divisional round game between New England and the Los Angeles Chargers. That’s a first, according to the league’s Twitter account. Thomas was hired in 2015 and was already the league’s first female fulltime official.
