What to do and see in Charlotte
WHERE TO GO
Attend the opening reception on July 13 from 6-9 p.m. for “Phantasy Hand” and the release party for Heads Magazine #7. Phantasy Hand features 13 artists from around the region focusing on drawing – a technique that takes many different forms in our digital age. The exhibition is curated by Jason Wright, publisher of Heads Magazine, an exhi- bition in the form of a quarterly publication, curated by word-ofmouth invitations from curators and contributors. Issue #7 features all of the artists in “Phantasy Hand” and will be available at Goodyear Arts at Camp North End throughout the exhibition.
WHAT TO DO
Develop your design skills at a SkillPop class focused around Adobe InDesign. Graphic designer Hannah Maschoff of Golden Rod Design Co. will teach the fundamentals of the program so you can create your own promotional print materials using type, imagery, and custom graphics. Advance registration is required for the class, with limited seating. You will need to bring your laptop with Adobe InDesign installed. If you don’t have the software, download the free seven-day trial via Adobe’s website. The class takes place at Hygge Coworking 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 11.
WHO TO MEET
Capture photos with your camera (or camera phone) 5-7 p.m. July 12 while on a group photo walk led by Los Angelesbased photographer and film director Frankhavemercy. The hope is that being with this creative artist in a unique locale will help you tune in to – and thus capture photographically – new things in your environment.
