Sara Banner Burleson and Michael Coulter Vicary were united in marriage on July 21, 2018, at half after five o’clock in the evening. The ceremony was held at Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte with the Reverend Bill Roth and the Reverend Matt Ham officiating. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Myers Park Country Club. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eugene Honour of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. William Wesley Burleson, junior of Bristol, Tennessee. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Donald Clontz of Charlotte and Mrs. William Wesley Burleson of Bristol, Virginia and the late Mr. William Wesley Burleson of Bristol, Tennessee. Banner is a graduate of Myers Park High School and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and is the nurse at Carmel Baptist Wee School. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Craig Vicary of Brentwood, Tennessee. He is the grandson of Mrs. John Chester Vicary of Brentwood, Tennessee and the late Mr. John Chester Vicary of Brentwood, Tennessee and the late Mrs. Jean Clark McLean of Charlotte. Michael is a graduate of Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and is the Young Life area director for South Charlotte. Presented in marriage by her parents, the bride was escorted by her father. During the ceremony, as something old and in memory of her beloved “Grandmammy”, Banner carried the same Book of Common Prayer carried by her grandmother at her wedding in 1947. Matron of honor was Caroline Simpson Burleson Schmitt, sister of the bride, of Charlotte. Bridesmaids included the bride’s sisters Wesley Linville Burleson of Bristol, Tennessee and Hannah Honour Grant of Charlotte; sister-in-law Ashley Reilly Honour of Charlotte; Jennifer McGehee Claggett of Jacksonville, Florida; Elizabeth Jane Doody of Knoxville, Tennessee; Martha Douglas Frye of Charlotte; Marjorie Keel Gately of Charlotte; Sherry Bartley Joy of Atlanta,Georgia and Elizabeth Anne Russell of Charlotte. The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen included the groom’s brothers John Christopher Vicary of Brentwood, Tennessee and Clark Alan Vicary of Knoxville, Tennessee; Thomas Alexander Ivy, junior of Charlotte; James Andrew King of Charlotte; Paul Michael Peeler of Knoxville, Tennessee; Nicholas Christopher Roby of Charlotte; Eric Thomas Warren of Wake Forest, North Carolina; Nicholas Ray Wendel of San Antonio, Texas and Stephen Dane Winborne of Knoxville, Tennessee. The bride’s aunts, Laine Clontz, Suzanne Coddington and Lynn Hodges, hosted on Friday a Bridal Luncheon honoring Banner and her bridesmaids at Charlotte Country Club. The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Friday night at the Barn at Hope Community Church. The newlyweds will reside in Charlotte.
