Browns: Re­ceiver Josh Gordon has re­turned to the team after be­ing away to work on his health. The for­mer Pro Bowl player has not been in train­ing camp. He has been sus­pended by the NFL for most of the past five sea­sons for drug vi­o­la­tions. Gordon thanked the Browns and the league for their pa­tience. He said he re­turns to the game ‘humbly“and knows he must stay fo­cused on his so­bri­ety. He is not ex­pected to be on the field for sev­eral days. Gi­ants: Coach Pat Shur­mur won't say if star re­ceiver Odell Beck­ham Jr. will play against the Jets in their an­nual pre­sea­son game. Shur­mur has taken a very cau­tious ap­proach with Beck­ham com­ing off a ma­jor in­jury. Obit­u­ary: For­mer Pro Bowl line­backer Paul Nau­moff was 73 when he died Fri­day at home in Ten­nessee. Nau­moff played for the Detroit Lions from 1967-78 and reached the Pro Bowl in the 1970 sea­son. He was drafted in the third round out of Ten­nessee.
