Sarah Frances Helms and John Thomas Floyd were united in mar­riage on Sat­ur­day, June 9, 2018 at five o’clock in the evening at Prov­i­dence United Methodist Church in Char­lotte, NC. The cer­e­mony was of­fi­ci­ated by the Rev­erend Dr. David S. Mel­ton and the Rev­erend Stafford J.P. Floyd, un­cle of the groom. A re­cep­tion hosted by the bride’s par­ents fol­lowed at The Char­lotte City Club. The bride is the daugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed­ward Phifer Helms of Char­lotte. She is the grand­daugh­ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Deas Man­ning Richard­son of Spar­tan­burg, S.C. and the late Mrs. Leonora Red­fearn Helms and Mr. Robert Everette Helms of Spar­tan­burg S.C. Sarah grad­u­ated from My­ers Park High School and Wash­ing­ton and Lee Univer­sity in Lex­ing­ton, Vir­ginia. She is an ac­count di­rec­tor at Luquire Ge­orge An­drews in Char­lotte. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Jay Floyd of Johns Is­land, S.C. He is the grand­son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lois Fran­cis Floyd of Lad­son, S.C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Scott Thomas of James Is­land, S.C. John grad­u­ated from Sum­merville High School and the Univer­sity of South Carolina. He re­ceived his Juris Doc­tor from the Univer­sity of South Carolina and he is an at­tor­ney at Moore & Van Allen in Char­lotte. The bride was es­corted by her fa­ther and given in mar­riage by her par­ents. The ma­tron of honor was Vir­ginia Helms War­lick, sis­ter of the bride of Char­lotte. Her maid of honor was Car­o­line Bowie Helms, sis­ter of the bride of Chicago, Illi­nois. Her brides­maids were Mrs. El­iz­a­beth Du­me­nil Clarke Glynn of Nor­folk, VA., Mrs. Anne Wilt­shire Henry of Rich­mond, VA., Mrs. Ni­cole Tate Milks of Char­lotte and Ms. Hunt­ley El­iz­a­beth Rodes of New York City, N.Y. The best man was Charles Fred­er­ick Lans­ing of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. Grooms­men were John Paul Braut of Punta Gorda, FL, Nathaniel Kim Can­non of Ridge­way, S.C., Ja­son Thomas Fromer of Sara­sota, FL, Ja­son Michael Pec­ora of Or­lando FL, and Alvin Paul Weis­senstein, III of Sumter, S.C. The flower girl was Miss Ellen Coul­ter War­lick and the ring bearer was Master Hayes Phifer War­lick, niece and nephew of the bride. Scrip­ture read­ers were Ms. Adri­enne Brooke Floyd, sis­ter of the groom and Mr. Coul­ter Al­lan War­lick, broth­erin-law of the bride. Ush­ers were Leonard Thomas Bishop, Robert Deas Bishop, Paul Matthews Richard­son, cousins of the bride and Wil­liam Al­bert Milks. A lun­cheon hon­or­ing the bride and her at­ten­dants was given on Fri­day at Napa on Prov­i­dence by the bride’s aunts and cousins. Fri­day evening the groom’s fam­ily hosted the re­hearsal din­ner at The Bar­rel Room at Triple C Brew­ery. Fol­low­ing a hon­ey­moon to Hong Kong and Thai­land Mr. and Mrs. Floyd will re­side in Char­lotte.
