The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent double homicide in Aberdeen.

Law enforcement identified the deceased as D.P. Black, 91, and Mary Lou Black, 86. They were husband and wife, Richard Maness, the chief deputy of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, said.

Deputies discovered the couple had been killed when they responded to a request from an employee of the Blacks to check on them, Maness said. Deputies went to the Blacks’ home on Roseland Road just before 6 p.m. and found one body on the porch and another inside the home.

Maness declined to provide information about the cause of death. Deputies investigated through the night, he said, but no suspect information is yet available.

The office is offering a $2,000 cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. People with tips have been asked to call 910-947-4444.
