‘Havana Dreams’

- STAFF REPORT

Chattanooga native Steve Dinberg, an award-winning commercial, sports and fine arts photographer now based in Atlanta, will be in town Friday, Feb. 24, to introduce his first public photography exhibition on Cuba on view at the Mountain City Club.

Gail Rich of Jumpst/ art, which represents Mountain City Club, says the photographs in “Havana Dreams: Cuba in Living Color” were made on several trips to the neighboring country by Dinberg, who is “passionate about travel.”

Jumpst/art regularly curates gallery shows for corporate and business settings in Chattanooga, according to Rich, but this is the first time it has been a single artist event, rather than a focus on multiple artists.

“We decided it was just such a unique and powerful show, we wanted it to be highlighted,” she says.

The show includes 35 images representing a variety of portraiture, street life, art and landscape.

“As a commercial photographer, he brings all the skills of his trade to highlight the country of Cuba with its curious mix of old and new, romance and rhythms,” Rich says.

Dinberg is dedicating the show to a photographer friend whose dream was to travel to Cuba. The friend died in December, dream unfulfilled. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the works will go to Weinstein Hospice Center in Atlanta.

The show is available for viewing between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with a courtesy call to Mountain City at 423-756-5584 or by appointment through Jumpst/art at 703-4029862.

The reception with Dinberg is scheduled 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
