New car show Saturday benefits Pet Placement Center

-

A new car show is launching Saturday and its organizers are putting on the dog for their dogs.

“Wags ‘N’ Wheels” will be held from 9 a. m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, on the TVA property at Chickamauga Dam, 3012 Kings Point Road. This car show is a fundraiser for the Pet Placement Center in Red Bank, a nonprofit shelter that saves and finds homes for homeless animals.

“Members of the Scenic City Cruisers, the East Tennessee Cruisers and the Scenic City Corvette clubs have all said they will be coming. We’ve had lots of interest from a wide variety of clubs and hope to see them all in mass,” says Glenn McFeeters, show organizer.

McFeeters adds that in addition to the variety of cars participating, special events have been scheduled to make the show a good family outing.

“The Chattanooga Fire Department has agreed to conduct a vehicle- extraction demonstration for us and the Chattanooga Police Department will do a K-9 demonstration,” he says. The K-9 demonstration will begin at 10 a.m.; the vehicle extraction at noon.

“We have created six car- centric midway- style games that will be available all day for people to play while attending the show,” he says. They are Plinko, Key Box Challenge, Valve Stem Ring Toss, Tire Bowling, Ring on a String and a spinning wheel. There will also be a Mechanic’s Creeper Race at 2:30 p.m.

Four food trucks, an ice cream wagon and Coca-Cola trailer will ensure the only things rumbling are engines, not stomachs.

Car owners can roll up and register the day of the show between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon. Registration is $25 the day of the event, $20 in advance. It’s free to spectators.
