Pianist Charlie Albright featured in Lee concert
Pianist to lead free master class Monday
Pianist Charlie Albright performed at the Bergen International Festival in Bergen, Norway, in June. In July, he played four solo concerts in France. September’s schedule took him to Kansas City, Mo., and Buffalo, N.Y.
Now the pianist hailed as “among the most gifted musicians of his generation” will kick off October in Cleveland, Tenn.
Back by popular demand, Albright will present an encore performance in Lee University’s Presidential Concert Series on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall in the Humanities Building on the university’s campus in Cleveland, Tenn.
“Albright is perhaps, to Lee students, the most popular pianist ever to perform for the series,” says Dr. Paul Conn, Lee president.
The New York City classical pianist and composer graduated from Har- vard College and the New England Conservatory, the first classical pianist in those schools’ five-year BA/MM Joint Degree Program. He was named one of the 15 Most Interesting Seniors of the Harvard class of 2015. He graduated from Juilliard School of Music with his post-graduate Artist Diploma in 2014.
He is an official Steinway Artist, 2014 Avery Fisher Career Grant Recip- ient and former Young Concert Artist.
Albright is a frequent collaborator with Yo-Yo Ma. The New York Times has praised his “jaw-dropping technique” and described his playing as “virtuosity with a distinctive musicality throughout.”
While in Cleveland, Albright will lead a free master class on Monday, Oct. 2, at 5 p.m., also in Squires Recital Hall. No reservation is needed to attend.
Concert tickets are $15 adults, $5 senior adults and children, and complimentary, but required, for Lee students and faculty. They may be purchased over the phone or in person at the Dixon Box Office, which is open weekdays 3-6 p.m.
On the concert date, any remaining t i ckets will be available one hour before the event.
