“Voice” finalist Brooke to Simpson returns for Lee University chapel concert. TODAY
One of five music performances on campus this weekend
Lee University alumna Brooke Simpson, who finished third on Season 13 of NBC’s “The Voice,” will return to her alma mater today, March 15, for a special chapel performance at 10:40 a.m. in the Conn Center.
Simpson, who auditioned with Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold,” got a fourchair turn from “The Voice” judges during the season premiere last fall. Simpson chose Miley Cyrus as her coach. During the finale, Simpson sang “What Is Beautiful,” an original song written for her by Cyrus.
Since her time on “The Voice,” the singer has started recording her own music and performing across the Southeast. She and husband Ray live in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where they serve as worship pastors at Potential Church.
This event is free, nonticketed and open to the public. Seating is f irstcome, first- served. The program may also be viewed online at https://livestream.com/leeu.
Simpson is the first of five musical events taking place on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus this weekend.

SPRING CHORALE CONCERT

The Lee University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Rodgers, will present a free, a cappella program based on the theme “Past, Present and Future.”
The concert will feature works in Russian, Latin, Hebrew and English as well as a piece by Dr. John Wykoff, associate professor of music theory and composition at Lee.
COMPOSER’S FORUM SHOWCASE
› Where: Squires Recital Hall, Humanities Center on campus
› When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 16
This free concert will feature music composed entirely by Lee University students.
“This concert is a good opportunity for beginning and advanced students to hear their works performed live,” says Dr. John Wykoff, concert organizer. “It’s also a good opportunity for performers to learn the value of playing original works and collaborating with composers.”
MARIMBA MADNESS
› Where: Squires Recital Hall, Humanities Center on campus
› When: 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18
This free concert will feature student performances from the studio of Andy Harnsberger. Guest artist will be Dr. Adam Blackstock from Troy University. He and Harnsberger will present the world premiere of “Serpent,” written for Blackstock by Harnsberger.
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT
› Where: Pangle Hall, 340 Church St.
› When: 7: 30 p. m. Monday, March 19
Robert Bernhardt, artist-in-residence at Lee, will conduct Lee’s Symphony Orchestra in a free program featuring winners of the Lee Student Concerto Competition.
The competition winners will play music by Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn and Mozart, as well as arias from operas by Donizetti and Carlisle Floyd.
“I look forward each spring to presenting the winners of our Concerto Competition, and as in years past, we have a wonderful mix of talent and music, which should combine for a remarkable and entertaining concert,” says Bernhardt.
