Classic cars, trucks and motorcycles to fill Southside streets for Chattanooga Cruise-In. SATURDAY

will fill Southside’s streets Saturday

- STAFF REPORT

More than 2,000 cars and as many as 20,000 spectators are expected to converge on the Southside neighborhood on Saturday, April 14, when the Chattanooga Cruise-In is held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Streets around the Southside from Coker Tire on Chestnut Street to First Tennessee Pavilion, 1826 Reggie White Blvd., will be closed for this free event for car- crazy collectors and spectators. The main entrance into the event will be located at the intersection of 20th Street and Reggie White Boulevard. The Chattanooga Cruise- In started as an open house at Coker Tire and Honest C harley Speed Shop in downtown Chattanooga. It has grown into one of the premier cruise-ins in the South. In addition to thousands of cars lining the streets and filling nearby parking lots, there will be food vendors, retail vendors and a swap meet. Door-prize drawings will begin at 2 p.m. There is no admission charged spectators or drivers bringing vehicles for the cruise- in, no judging and no pressure. As this event has grown, it hasn’t lost its relaxed atmosphere with some of the coolest cars, trucks and motorcycles displayed. Don’t forget to check out the Coker Tire Museum while there.

Car clubs are welcome, but clubs can no longer reserve special parking areas. The overwhelming number of car clubs has surpassed the capacity of the car club parking area. Organizers suggest club members arrive at the event together, in order to park together.
