Annual Doggie Paddle Pool Party to benefit McKamey Animal Center takes place at Warner Park. SATURDAY
Dogs take over the pool at Warner Park Saturday
Warner Park Pool is going to the dogs Saturday, Sept. 8, when the 10th annual Doggie Paddle Pool Party is held.
This fundraiser for McKamey Animal Center allows pet owners to bring their pooches for a swim before the Warner Park Pool is drained at summer’s end.
“There is one pool but they also have a splash/sprinkler park on the side that the dogs love playing in as well,” says Jamie McAloon, McKamey executive director.
All sizes of dogs are welcome, but owners must accompany their dogs and there must be one adult per two dogs.
Doggie etiquette requires that dogs be on a leash when outside the pool area, owners must clean up after their dogs (bags provided), owners bring their own towels and children may not be left unattended.
Aggressive dogs (and people) will be asked to leave.
Having seen how much dogs enjoy this water play, the McKamey staff has added some new contests to the fun. The Splish Splash Contest will include categories: best dog swimsuit, longest jump, fastest swim, best belly flop and biggest splash. Pet owners can enroll their dogs at the Off Leash K9 Trainers’ booth at the pool.
Rocky catches some air before splashing into the Warner Park Pool at a previous Doggie Paddle Pool Party. The annual fundraiser for McKamey Animal Center takes place Saturday.
