Candlelight tours at Gordon-Lee Mansion
Step back in time with a tour of historic Gordon- Lee Mansion decorated for the holidays j ust as it would have been when built in the 1840s. The antebellum home will be illuminated with dozens of candles in every room, and decorations of live greenery, bows and fruit.
Friends of the Gordon- Lee Mansion will host its annual candlelight tours on Fridays and Saturdays Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8, from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.
Live period music will be played in the upstairs foyer to set the atmo- sphere for the tours. Hot apple cider and cookies will be served to guests in the warming kitchen.
Construction on the mansion began in 1840 by James Gordon and was completed in 1847. It is completely furnished in 18th- and 19th- century, museum-quality antiques, primarily from the American South.
The tours are self-guided. All proceeds help fund preservation of the Chickamauga, Georgia, landmark.
