Candleligh­t tours at Gordon-Lee Mansion

Step back in time with a tour of historic Gordon- Lee Mansion decorated for the holidays j ust as it would have been when built in the 1840s. The antebellum home will be illuminate­d with dozens of candles in every room, and decoration­s of live greenery, bows and fruit.

Friends of the Gordon- Lee Mansion will host its annual candleligh­t tours on Fridays and Saturdays Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8, from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening.

Live period music will be played in the upstairs foyer to set the atmo- sphere for the tours. Hot apple cider and cookies will be served to guests in the warming kitchen.

Constructi­on on the mansion began in 1840 by James Gordon and was completed in 1847. It is completely furnished in 18th- and 19th- century, museum-quality antiques, primarily from the American South.

The tours are self-guided. All proceeds help fund preservati­on of the Chickamaug­a, Georgia, landmark.
