After the stress of the Christmas rush, who can’t use a little Rehab?

The rock/ rap duo is playing The Signal tonight, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m.

Rehab originally formed as a trio: Denny Campbell, aka Steaknife; Danny “Boone” Alexander, and Jason Brooks, aka Brooks Buford. Alexander and Campbell were the rap group Prime Suspect. Alexander and Brooks were recovering addicts, which led to the name Rehab when the trio formed.

After their first album, “To Whom I May Consume,” Campbell was incarcerated, according to internet sources. The trio was offered a record deal, but signed as a duo. Combining rock and rap, the duo released “Southern Discomfort” in 2000, featuring guests such as Cee-Lo Green and other Goodie Mob members.

The album went on to sell more than 140,000 units and produced such hits as “Sittin’ at a Bar,” “It Don’t Matter” and “Rattle My Cage.”

After two years on the road supporting the Vans’ Warped tour and playing with bands such as Linkin Park, Alexander called it quits over a difference in creative viewpoints.

Brooks went on to record several projects, such as “Straight Outta Rehab,” which was never released due to their label going out of business. In late 2005, Brooks went on to host the MTV series “Trailer Fabulous” and in 2006 the MTV International series “Bustamove.”

In 2005, Rehab re- emerged with a new album, “Graffiti the World.”

In 2008, the three original members did a reunion EP going by the name Southern Discomfort, which included “Sittin’ at a Bar.” The Epic label re-released their debut album and renamed it “Sittin’ at a Bar,” all without the band’s permission.

To fight this unauthorized reissue, the band re-recorded its now famous drinking song and renamed it “Bartender Song.” Rehab stuck with Universal for i ts 2010 album “Welcome Home.”

New Year’s Eve 2017, Alexander announced on the band’s Facebook page that Rehab had returned with new music and a planned tour in 2018. He also said that the other member of the duo with him was Jay “Jericho” Robinson.
