Nashville trio next up in Mu­sic at Mizpah se­ries

A con­cert fea­tur­ing mu­sic by Jewish com­posers will be pre­sented Sun­day af­ter­noon, Jan. 13, at Mizpah Con­gre­ga­tion when the Emily Nel­son Trio per­forms “Clas­si­cal & Pop­u­lar Mu­sic for the Soul.”

The trio fea­tures Nashville mu­si­cians cel­list Emily Nel­son, vi­olin­ist Es­ther Sanders and pi­anist/com­poser David M. Rodgers.

The con­cert will fea­ture the pre­miere of a new piece by Rodgers com­mis­sioned of the trio by Mizpah, as well as Shostakovich’s Pi­ano Trio No. 2 and Schoen­feld’s “Café Mu­sic.”

One of t he busiest mu­si­cians in Mu­sic City, Nel­son has a re­sume that reads like a who’s who of con­tem­po­rary mu­sic. She has recorded and/or toured with leg­ends like Dolly Par­ton, Travis Tritt, Ali­son Kraus, Tay­lor Swift, Roy Or­bi­son, Smokey Robin­son, Imag­ine Dragons, Mannheim Steam­roller, Josh Groban, Michael Bu­ble and Il Divo.

This Mu­sic at Mizpah event, pre­sented in the Ochs Me­mo­rial Tem­ple sanc­tu­ary, is de­signed to share mu­sic of the high­est qual­ity in mul­ti­ple gen­res in the al­most-per­fect acous­tics of Mizpah’s sa­cred space.
