Re­flec­tions hosts First Fri­day re­cep­tion

Re­flec­tions Gallery will host its First Fri­day wine­and-cheese open house on Fri­day, Aug. 2, fea­tur­ing work by wildlife photograph­er Steve Bran­don.

Jew­elry maker Carol Ott and ce­ramic artists Loren Howard and Jaime Peter­son will also have work on dis­play.

The re­cep­tion will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, 1635 Rossville Ave. The open house will in­clude a demon­stra­tion by Howard of wheelthrow­n pot­tery and an artist talk at 7 p.m. by Bran­don.

Bran­don has pho­tographed wildlife on all seven con­ti­nents and has spo­ken to over 125 na­ture groups, civic clubs and schools about wildlife and con­ser­va­tion. There is a per­ma­nent dis­play of his work at Mis­sis­sippi State Univer­sity.

He will present a pho­to­graphic pro­gram on “The Swamp Li­ons of the Oka­vango Delta of Botswana.” Botswana is home to the only pop­u­la­tion of li­ons in the world that hunt in wa­ter.
