Playhouse presents ‘Don’t Dress for Dinner!’

Cumberland County Playhouse will present the uproarious, high-energy comedy “Don’t Dress for Dinner!” beginning Friday, Aug. 16.

Adapted by Robin Hawdon from the play by Marc Camoletti (“Boeing, Boeing”), the show ran for over six years in London’s West End, and has continued to be presented since.

“After the phenomenal success of last year’s ‘Boeing Boeing,’ we wanted to treat our audience to another riotous comedy,” says Producing Director Bryce McDonald.

“It’s always a pleasure to welcome back talented director Donald Fann, who has helmed some of our most popular comic titles, including ‘Boeing Boeing,’ ‘Lend Me a Tenor’ and ‘The Fox on the Fairway!’”

› For more information: 931-4845000 at his charming converted farmhouse with his current side dish, a stunning model named Suzanne (Hannah Hays), while his wife, Jacqueline (Weslie Webster), is away visiting her mother.

He has arranged for a cordon bleu chef named Suzette (DeAnna Etchison) to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert (Jason Ross), along to provide an alibi for his extramarital shenanigans. It’s foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Since this is farce, the answer is everything!

Robert and Jacqueline are having a dalliance of their own, and when she discovers that Robert has been invited for the weekend, Jacqueline decides to stay. Robert just makes matters worse when he mistakes the chef for the mistress. Soon the mistress arrives and has to pretend to be the chef, regardless of the fact that she can’t cook.

And just when you think things couldn’t possibly get any more confusing, the chef ’s very jealous — and very large — husband (Grayson Yockey) arrives. Soon everyone at the farmhouse is feverishly muddling through an evening of mistaken identities, lusty hijinks and inspired lunacy.

“Don’t Dress for Dinner!” will run through Oct. 3. It is rated PG.
