HamilTones kick off Levitt Amp series tonight
Grammy-nominated trio HamilTones kick off the third season of the Levitt Amp Chattanooga concert series tonight, Aug. 22.
The trio takes its name from singing together as the official back-up singers for Grammy-winning soul singer Anthony Hamilton. Whether performing as a standalone group or backing Hamilton, the precision and talent of vocalists Tony Lelo, 2E and J. Vito is attention-grabbing and engaging. They deliver uplifiting, soothing harmonies in a rich sound that has an airtight blend.
The HamilTones share a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional R&B Performance with Hamilton for “What I’m Feelin’” from Hamilton’s 2016 album by the same name.
After selling out The Apollo and working with artists such as BJ The Chicago Kid, PJ Morton and Tori Kelly, The HamilTones released their debut album, “Watch The Ton3s,” in June.
In addition to their own cover of “Old Town Road,” the six-track EP includes love songs and music that 2E described in an interview with Vibe as “soul/R&B, feel-good music.”
Presented by Rise, the Levitt Amp series celebrates the historic M.L. King district’s rich heritage while fueling the community’s revitalization through the presentation of free, live music.
