AN EVENING WITH BERNADETTE PETERS
Broadway legend Bernadette Peters brings her inimitable style and voice to the stage of the Tivoli Theatre, joining the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera for An Evening with Bernadette Peters on Saturday night, Oct. 12.
The multi-Tony, Golden Globe and Grammy Award-winning singer and actress will be conducted by Marvin Laird, music director, in a clever, and often-hilarious, symphony show. CSO’s own Bob Bernhardt, principal pops conductor, will offer a first half of orchestra-only works.
“One of Broadway’s most critically acclaimed performers, Bernadette Peters is simply one of America’s greatest entertainers. I am so happy that our audience will be able to experience her amazing talents at the Tivoli,” says Bernhardt.
“The show is brilliantly musical and emotionally varied, hilariously light and then stunningly deep, as well as everything in between. She’s a fabulous singer, a delightful storyteller and a peerless actress. I know that her performance will linger in memory for those lucky enough to experience it,” he says.
Peters is best-known for her award-winning turns in Broadway classics such as “Annie Get Your Gun” and “Song and Dance,” as well as television and film performances in “Pennies from Heaven,” “Ally McBeal,” “Mozart in the Jungle” and many more. Three of her six solo albums have been nominated for Grammys.
She is also the author of three children’s books, which served as fundraisers for Broadway Barks animal adoption nonprofit, which she founded with Mary Tyler Moore.
