Living History Day at 6th Cavalry Museum If you go

Visitors can immerse themselves in years past when the 6th Cavalry Museum holds its Living History Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

In addition to touring the museum, visitors can view a number of World War II living-history displays and talk with reenactors on the polo field outside the museum. Here’s what’s in store: › An exhibit from the Tri-State Military Vehicle Preservati­on Associatio­n.

› Molly Sampson, head of the 1st Women Army Corps Living History Group, portrays life at the WAC Center. Sampson will teach what a WAC trainee experience­d as › What: Rememberin­g Our Heroes Living History Day

› Ross Greenwood and JR the pack mule will portray a WWII Army mule packer. Mules and other animals played very important roles in war, and Greenwood and JR will educate guests on these heroic animals forgotten by history.

› Karen Barkley will portray an American nurse on the front line in Europe during WWII. Barkley will discuss battlefiel­d care of the sick and wounded. Her display includes uniforms, photos, medication­s and many pieces of original surgical instrument­s.

› Joe Barkley will portray a staff sergeant of the 502 Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne. Barkley’s display includes uniforms, helmets, weapons and equipment of the Americans and Germans. He will discuss the role of paratroope­rs on D-Day (June 6, 1944).

› German re-enactors.
