Huang duo next in Lee concert series

Lee University’s Presidenti­al Concert series will present pianist Helen Huang and violinist Paul Huang in the next Presidenti­al Concert Series on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Their performanc­e will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, 340 Church St. in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Although they share the same last name, there is no family relationsh­ip between the pair. They also share a reputation for impressive technique and eloquent performanc­es.

Helen Huang is a soloist and chamber music player who has appeared with the Berlin Philharmon­ic, the Orchestre National de France, the

London Philharmon­ic and the Israel Philharmon­ic.

She received Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award for promising young artists in 1994, and in 1995, she became one of the youngest recipients of the prestigiou­s Avery

Fisher Career Grant.

Helen attended the Manhattan School of Music and then Juilliard School. She currently serves on the Juilliard pre-college faculty.

Paul Huang, also a recipient of the Avery

Fisher Career Grant, has performed at festivals worldwide, including his recital debut at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerlan­d. He received the Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists in 2017.

Winner of the 2011 Young Concert Artists Internatio­nal Auditions, he made critically acclaimed recital debuts in New York at Lincoln Center and in Washington, D.C., at the Kennedy Center.
