Walk Off the Earth tour stops here Feb. 24

- STAFF REPORT Compiled by Susan Pierce.

Maybe you recognize Walk Off the Earth as that band that burst onto the internet with a video of all five of them playing one guitar and singing Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.” (That YouTube video is now approaching 190 million views.)

Or maybe you’re a fan and excited that the band has been nominated for Group of the Year and for Pop Album of the Year at the 2020 Juno Awards for

their No. 1 album, “Here We Go!” Those awards (considered the Canadian Grammys) will be presented March 15.

Or maybe you know

nothing about them except that they released a cover of the Jonas Brothers’ “Lonely,” and the Jonases liked it so much that they shared it with their fans on Twitter.

Walk Off the Earth has sold out the Sydney Opera House and headlined shows at Wembley Arena and Red Rock Amphitheatre. And now the multiplatinum Canadian pop band is stopping in Walker Theatre on Monday, Feb. 24, as part of its current Here We Go tour in support of the new album of the same name.

“Here We Go!” debuted at No. 1 on Nielsen’s Pop Albums chart in the United States, No. 3 on Canada’s Top Albums chart, and No. 6 on Billboard’s

Top Album Sales chart.

The album features the band’s single, “I’ll Be There,” which has clocked 17.5 million worldwide steams to date after hitting No. 1 on Apple Music’s Breaking Pop playlist.

The band’s threemonth theater tour is billed as “an intimate and interactive experience” that they promise will be a one-of-a-kind experience unlike anything fans have seen before.
